Editor's Review:

Telegraph Dating is affiliated with The Telegraph, a well-known UK newspaper and news source. Their dating platform helps professionals to meet online, providing extensive profile creation, messaging and a few simple extras to help things get off to a good start.

At first glance, this is a simple dating website. It’s certainly not overflowing with features such as games or chat rooms. Whilst that won’t appeal to everyone, it does feel like some of the flab has been cut away to leave a set of practical tools underneath. As well as a useful set of core features, the site also provides an extremely in-depth profile creation, with literally hundreds of options to choose from. You can specify your fashion choices, hobbies, eating habits and much more. This information is then used to help match you to other members.

Matching is pretty effective on Dating.Telegraph.co.uk, as you can clearly see how closely matched to another member you are (with the site even offering a percentage to show your suitability). You can view your closest matches or, if you’ve exhausted that list, you can opt to perform a search. There are plenty of search options to choose from so you can really narrow in on your ideal date.

Members can upload plenty of information about themselves, plus up to 10 photos. This gives you a good idea of how they look before meeting, and you can send and receive messages prior to meeting up. Live chat options are lacking, which can be a little disappointing if you prefer instant responses. For the most part, however, the communication tools are sufficient to keep members happy.

Free membership allows you to browse the site, view profiles and photos, perform searches and check out your matches. If you wish to communicate with members you have one of two options: upgrade your account, or wait patiently. Upgrading allows you to send and receive unlimited messages, but there’s also an additional option to upgrade so that all members can reply to your messages for free. This means you’ll be able to approach non-paying members and they can respond without having to upgrade, giving you a great head start against any competition.

Short term contracts are a bit expensive, but longer contracts provide good savings and are very affordable. Membership numbers also seem pretty high, with larger areas in the UK having plenty of active profiles. We recommend joining for free and performing a few searches, primarily to find out how many members are in your area and how many of them you’d like to potentially date.

Whilst TelegraphDating isn’t exclusively for professionals, we felt that it had a high proportion of highly educated, professional people and higher-earners, making it a good option for anyone interested in dating like-minded professionals in the UK. Whilst its features are somewhat limited, its very detailed profiles mean that you have plenty of opportunity to express yourself and describe who you’re looking for. This means that your matches are based on much more than their physical looks, and you can even ascribe importance to certain personal qualities. For example, if you think that income is particularly important, you can make this apparent and the system takes it into account when matching you to other members.

Telegraph Dating won’t appeal to everyone, but it offers a solid dating service for a very competitive price. You can go into a lot of depth regarding your preferences, helping you to identify the members you’re most likely to get along with.
