Very unprofessional and expensive. It’s a fraud. They will take your money and then blame you for not having decent dates.... I was cheated

This is the letter I wrote to the business after my awful experience! I truly wish I'd looked around before I threw my money away.


First of all let me say, I was quite excited to use this service. Sheila made it sound great over the phone. But what I experienced made this whole thing a huge disappointment. I went on a date with John on August 28th and it was a waste of time and money.

In my initial conversation with Sheila, she asked me about ethnicity and I was honest in saying I want a Caucasian man. I said to her (and Sheri on FaceTime, at our coaching session) that my parents opinion on who I dated was important to me and as such, Caucasian needed to be at the top of the list. In seeing John's pictures, I was unsure as to his ethnicity and didn't know he was Middle-Eastern until Sheri said so, the day before the date. Yes they give you dates but not with people you are looking for the restaurants they sent me to was the same one which I stated I did not like 6 dates or six months they barely gave me 6 dates in six months waste of my money

It took a lot of time to go through the interviews with people who seemed not to care for their jobs of matching strangers. I was very clear with what I wanted and the dates they set me up on were awful. They did not let me view the profiles of the dates prior to the date. That is how they make a ton of money with minimal effort. A complete waste of time and money. I asked for my money back ($1,500) or some additional dates, and they refused.

Super easy to join! They are your best friend until they have your money. Then things get very quiet.
I joined with a lot of high hopes. Now 3 dates in, hopes are all gone. Their team of matchmakers need work !! And forget the refund. "Debbie, my matchmaker/supervisor for the Florida region came right out and told me no refund! This was after my first blind date. Yes I said blind. They offer no pictures, give you a name and a place and time to meet. I drove at least a hour for each of my 3 dates. I guess that is my fault that they don't have matches closer. Debbie holds no accountability for herself or the company. The last date was 27 years older than me in which I had nothing in common. I lost faith in this company right then. Dating is hard enough, much less letting strangers match you up. Debbie offered no apologies for the mismatch- nothing other than the same old- we will take this into consideration for your next date. The service costs between 3k-10k they guarantee a minimum of 6 dates...it's a load of crap! The only difference between IJL and Match/eharmony is they do the work...like sit behind a computer all day and call/email people to harass them to sign up. Does anyone really want to pay that amount?!? Doubtful. People have had to change their emails and phone numbers because IJL doesn't stop calling even after you state Not Interested...I would sue and give fake numbers emails unless you're really ready to sign up or really ready to be harassed. And they have scripts to tell you have wonderful YOU are and how people Are just like you! They're trying to hit the psyche and it's a load of crap. Don't be another fool. You can date as a busy professional. And you can find someone on your own...$3-10k, plus harassment and constant calls OR Eharmony/match and YOU decide, cheaper, and no harassment. Every review a person reads is correct about the harassment, the way they pick dates, the money is different for everyone. The concept is great...the IJL staff aren't...and the men in the system are nothing short of brutal. Summary - women are on this because they are busy and open-minded. Men are on this because they are socially inept. From what I gather, women go on one date every 2-3 months (and they're not that picky) and men go on 4-6 dates per month. IJL will still try to force fit a date since they already have your money and really have no choice. You will get professional men, mostly unable to function in society - a 50 yr old who would rather spend new years eve with his mother than a girl
- a 'mid-level manager' (I put that in quotes because everytime he said "management" he used air quotes) who couldn't stop raving about him and his colleagues getting hammered every week on his huge expense account
- a guy who demands the waiter comes over and aggressively orders a hot cup of tea (it's 8 pm). That's not the odd part. Doesn't even see if I want a drink.

Horrible service...do not sigh up with its just lunch... complete waste of money

the dating director consistently failed to return phone calls and e-mails...saying he never got them. i spoke to his manager 2x and nothing improved. they supposedly set me up on a 2 dates and the dates mysteriously cancelled just a few hours before the dates.

complete scam... i have called the better business bureau, and will be calling my lawyer.

My experience was that although the staff was helpful, the dates they set up were with people that I had very little in common with. Part of this seems to be the people who join, that like online sites, they aren't upfront about their interests and activities. Another issue may be the system IJL uses. They will match you with people and you will go on dates but they are all basically like blind dates and incredibly uncomfortable. I encountered situations where the scheduled meeting place did not have the reservation, thus making it necessary to figure out what to do on our own. I was matched with people who were recently divorced and either just looking to get back into the dating scene or they spent the entire date talking about their ex's. After most of their matches, I just felt awful. I pretty much started to dread the dates and ended my membership early. Their advertising states that they will be your wingman, but I never felt like the IJL staff were. I have joined IJL4 (the San Diego franchise) 3 times. Yes, that's right. The 1st and 2nd times were pretty good. I didn't meet the love of my life but I went out on some decent dates.

I was about halfway through my 2nd membership and they called me up asking about the Elite Service. It was pricey but I fell for the hype anyway. Big mistake! The matchmakers were useless. They didn't do even half of what they promised. I didn't go on one date for the 1st 2 months of a 6-month contract. They sent me on two dates (one was OK and one was lousy) and then I called up to complain (again). I find out that the local franchise is out of business and the corporate office will be handling me. Things did not get better when the franchise took over. I went out on one lousy date and then they told me that my contract was up. I didn't get a fraction of what I paid for. They told me they would give me one more date but that's still not nearly what I was expecting.
